History of Bhangarh
The fort was built in the 17th century by Raja Bhagwant Das for his son Madhav Singh. Once a flourishing town with more than 10,000 inhabitants, Bhangarh was known for its beautiful palaces, temples, and architecture.

According to local legends, a magician (tantrik) named Sindhu Sevada fell in love with Princess Ratnavati of Bhangarh. He tried to use black magic to win her over, but the princess saw through his trick and turned the spell against him. Before dying, the tantrik cursed the town of Bhangarh, saying it would be destroyed.
Soon after, a battle broke out, and the entire town was wiped out. Since then, people claim the fort has been cursed and haunted.
Entry Prohibited After Sunset
The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has put up a board outside the fort prohibiting entry after sunset. Locals also claim to hear strange sounds at night – cries, footsteps, whispers, and bangles clinking.
No one is allowed inside the premises after dark.
